So I’ve been thinking I’d like to do a new series on the blog (or on a YouTube) about local travel or hidden gems in our area. Would that be something you’d need interested in seeing more of her on IG as well?⁣
⁣
While I love traveling outside of our local vicinity, there’s so much to experience in this area. It’s rich in culture and heritage, and I’m really feeling pulled in the direction of sharing more of it with you all. ⁣
⁣

A bottle of Cabernet, some pungent cheese, a packet of whole grain crackers, and a day out with my love. Heck, yeah! I totally needed this past weekend, y’all! ⁣

With each passing year, I learn to embrace the season of winter and all of its benefits a bit more. However, after the hustle and bustle of the holiday season that moves right into a time of planning for our next homeschool year, I definitely needed some time away with my favorite person doing the simplest things together this past weekend.⁣
⁣
When you are feeling run down or even simply need a change of scenery, what is your favorite thing to do to get away from it all?

Just a little house project update for you today!

Just a little house project update for you today! The rock around our fireplace is finished, the wood stove is piped in, Dean has picked up the walnut slabs that will become our mantle and shelving around the fireplace, and my antique brass L brackets have arrived.⁣
⁣
Now all we have to do is plane all of the wood, cut it to size, seal it, and mount it on the walls. Oh, and I also have to go antique/thrift shopping for the perfect mantle decor too, but that doesn’t feel quite so much like work.

This past weekend, Dean and I had a lovely day to ourselves. We did some local shopping and eating (Asheville was crazy cold and windy this weekend!🥶) before heading to Biltmore Estate for a Candlelight Christmas tour. 🕯⁣

This was our first candlelight tour, and it was magical. It was like we extended the holiday season a bit longer! 🎄⁣
⁣

While many folks are up to their eyeballs in New Y

While many folks are up to their eyeballs in New Year resolutions, goal setting, and planning, I'm quietly hunkering down here in my little East Tennessee cottage, doing all I can to rest and stay warm during these cold days of winter.⁣
⁣
We have 3 weeks left of our winter homeschool break before our next year starts up, and I'm doing all I can to be mindful of each day, do things that bring me joy, and rest as much as possible before my days fill up again.⁣
⁣
I'm taking naps, catching up on my favorite Netflix shows, finishing half-read or half-listened to books and audiobooks, cooking more elaborate meals, taking long herbal baths, journaling, and so much more.⁣
⁣
Many people look at the winter months as something to get through, but over the last few years, I've learned to embrace this season. I mean, there are so many things to love about winter!⁣

So tell me... what is one of your favorite things about the winter season?

It’s rainy and gray out today — a perfect day to curl up with a good book and read!

I’m currently working my way through Home Sweet Maison by @daniellepostelvinay — a Christmas gift from my mom, and I’m feeling so inspired to continue my goal of creating a beautiful, cozy, welcoming home for our family and friends.

So tell me, what good books have you read lately?

Although I’m a little bit late at getting my indoor paperwhites planted, I should have some blooms by mid-February.🤞

And yes, I still have Christmas decorations up because I’ve been shoveling soggy blown-in insulation out of my garage for two days straight and haven’t gotten around to doing much of anything else.

I normally do put everything away on New Year’s Day or the day after, but this year I’m not sure when I’ll get around to it!

So now I’m curious, when do you typically take down your holiday decorations?

If you've watched my Vlogmas videos over on YouTube, then you've already met him, but today is his first appearance here on Instagram. ⁣
⁣
Charlie is a 4 months old Australian Shepherd. He was a gift for my 10-year-old (almost 11) son, Isaiah, for Christmas. He loves to play outside, snuggle when he's sleepy, and chew on bones and his toys.⁣

We are so happy to have him as a part of our family!⁣
⁣
