4 Varieties of Healthy Pinwheels Your Kids Will Love

Below are recipes for 4 different kinds of pinwheels. I got the idea somewhere off Pinterest. I’m not even sure where the original source came from. Whoever you are… “Thank You!!!”

First off… the pinwheels in the above picture are as follows, and these will be the recipes I’ll be giving you.

  • BLAT – bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato
  • Strawberry Cream Cheese
  • Apple Cinnamon
  • Peanut Butter & Banana

What you’ll need for all of these pinwheels are tortilla shells – whole wheat, multi-grain, spinach, corn… your choice. Just be careful of GMO’s please! There are actually several homemade tortilla shell recipes I’ve come across on the web, but I’ve never tried making any yet. It’s on my HUGE to-do list! – and healthy toppings – chopped so you can roll your shell up easily.

BLAT Pinwheels

BLAT stands for Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado, and Tomato, and these are sooooo good. My husbands favorite by far. (He doesn’t get real bacon too often!)

Ingredients:

  • 2 tortilla shells
  • mayo
  • organic bacon
  • avocado
  • organic spinach
  • tomato

Directions:

Spread mayo on your tortilla shells, add toppings, roll, cut, enjoy!

Strawberry Cream Cheese Pinwheels

These pinwheels have just the right mix of sweet without going overboard! If you want to make them a bit sweeter, you could always sprinkle on a bit of xylitol, sugar, or some other sweetener to the top.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tortilla shells
  • organic cream cheese
  • organic strawberries
  • xylitol or sugar crystals (optional)

Directions:

Spread cream cheese on your tortilla shells, add toppings, roll, cut, enjoy!

Peanut Butter & Banana Pinwheels

Who doesn’t love nut butters and bananas? Ummm. These are sweet and salty. A perfect combination. Watch out though… they’re messy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tortilla shells
  • nut butter – peanut, almond, etc.
  • banana
  • local honey

Directions:

Spread nut butter on your tortilla shells, add bananas, drizzle with honey, roll, cut, enjoy!

Cinnamon Apple Pinwheels

I honestly think these were my favorite. Sweet and spicy… in a nice way. Plus, they were crunchy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tortilla shells
  • organic cream cheese
  • organic apple
  • local honey
  • cinnamon

Directions:

Spread cream cheese on your tortilla shells, add apples, top with cinnamon and honey, roll, cut, enjoy!
