How To Make Healthy Homemade Disposable Baby Wipes

Making homemade disposable baby wipes is easy and super cheap, not to mention much, much better for your baby’s skin than commercial baby wipes. Commercial baby wipes contain preservatives, artificial fragrances, alcohol, and other chemicals that are toxic to your baby’s body.

In today’s video, I’m going to show you how I make my own healthy baby wipes and solution! Written directions can be found below the video.

DIY Healthy Homemade Disposable Baby Wipes

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Cut your paper towel roll in half with a serrated knife. Set it aside and mix the remaining ingredients together.
  2. Pour mixture over top of paper towels and allow it to set for 10 minutes. Come back and check bottom of wipes to see if they got wet. If not mix up another 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 Tbsp. of soap, and 1/2 tsp. of baby oil, flip your paper towel roll over and pour liquid over the wipes again. Let set another 10 minutes. By now your wipes should be thoroughly saturated. Not soaking wet, but moist!
  3. Remove the cardboard from the center, and pull out a wipe or two from the center of the roll to get started. Store in a container or a plastic gallon bag that’s air tight. Enjoy!

I made these all the time when my youngest who is now 11 was a baby! They smell so fresh, work well, and most importantly I knew nothing harmful was touching my baby.

They also work well to keep on hand for times when out and about and there isn’t a bathroom for washing up.

Thanks for sharing Priscilla! I love hearing real life success stories! Thanks for the great tip too. I don’t know how many times I’ve needed wipes to wash sticky hands when I’ve been out with my oldest and not had a diaper bag with me. These would be great to keep in the car.

Hi Meagan, I use dr bronner’s lavender soap, with almond oil and distilled water.. I use great valve pick a towel and fold each one in half, place each towel in a baby wipe containers. Little more work this way but easier for me to grab… I did have a container left out in the car for cleaning messy hands but it froze on me.. At least up here it did in Pa. I use the towels for clean up after the pups, messy bum or drips of urine on floors…we’ve been having cold days up here….

I love this easy recipe! I’ve used it in the past, but now use one that has a couple more ingredients:
1 T. each- olive oil, aloe gel, baby wash, witch hazel
2 c. boiled and cooled water
Combine and pour over paper towels.
    🙂

Is there a cheaper/ mire home made alternative to the baby oil? Thankyou, I am really looking forward to giving these a go!

    • Meagan says:

Sure, Joy. You can simply use any vegetable oil you’d like. Olive oil, sweet almond oil, even coconut oil all work great. Hope that helps!
