Meagan, I tried commenting on Natural Cottage’s blog post but it wasn’t working for some reason. I have been battling candida sporadically for the last year since the return of my period after birth. I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant and I would LOVE to know what natural slave/anti-fungal cream recipe you used instead of the OTC treatments! I’m SO tired of trying to find a cream that treats the strand of yeast I have (at least according to my midwives). Thanks!

    Hi Meagan,

I came across your blog post recently and have a couple questions. I have been battling a lot of different health issues related to candida overgrowth and I began on a semi Candida diet right before I found out that I was pregnant with my 2nd son. I basically just cut out sugar and ate a lot of anti-fungal foods plus took probiotics for 3 months. I read some places that taking the anti-fungal supplements while pregnant might be dangerous to the baby, so I quit the diet then. My son is now 2 yrs old and I am just now feeling like I am capable of sustaining following this diet 100% through. The only concern is that I may be pregnant again and I really need to get this candida overgrowth under control. I wondered if you took some of the supplements like Pau d’Arco, Oregano oil, etc while you were pregnant. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and being an encouragement to many! God bless!

I did not take any strong antifungal supplements when pregnant. I took the Yeast Assassin Lite from Beeyoutiful that I linked to in the above blog post only. That was enough, along with making dietary changes, to keep me from getting any other infections. If I were dealing with chronic yeast issues, I’d definitely clean up my diet first and keep it as clean as I could, and focus on adding in cultured, fermented foods as well as a really good probiotic. All of those things should be fine during pregnancy as they’re dietary. For supplements, especially during pregnancy, I’d stick with the ones that are not so strong just to be on the safe side. Hope that helps!
