Soothie Suckers: An Easy Way To Get Your Kids To Take Herbal Remedies – Review & Giveaway

An Easy Way To Get Your Child To Take Herbal Remedies: Soothie Suckers Review & Giveaway - GrowingUpHerbal.com

Soothie Suckers

Ever heard of them?

Me neither… until a few months ago when Soothie Suckers founder, Marietta Harrison, contacted me and asked me if I’d like to try them out on my kids and see what they thought.

So what did I do?

Well, I looked into them first to make sure they were something that I’d give to my kids. I’m not what I call “an ingredient snob”, but I do try to be careful about what I give them. After I did a little research and I was happy, I told her to send them my way. I even told her that if we loved them, I’d share them with you.

Well, can you guess… we loved them so today I’m here to tell you my 3 favorite things about them, and why I think you’ll love them too!

#1 – When It Comes To Kids… Taste Matters

An Easy Way To Get Your Child To Take Herbal Remedies: Soothie Suckers Review & Giveaway - GrowingUpHerbal.com

Now, I’ve been using herbal remedies on myself for about 8 years now on my kids for the past almost 6 years, and I know what it’s like to be so sure that what you’ve prepared for your child is good, powerful stuff. The problem is that my kids don’t know it… nor do they care.

So yes, I try to mask the flavor of my less tasty herbal concoctions using fruit juice, honey, glycerin, food, or whatever else I think will get it down my kids throat.

Have you been there too? Great! Then you know exactly what I mean.

Obviously not all herbs are yucky tasting for kids. Some are really easy to get kids to take, but from what I’ve learned over the years is that if you wanna make something really great… something really strong… something that has a really good chance of working… it’s probably not going to taste all that good to your kids.

I mean, herbs are flavorful. Some are sweet. Some are pungent. Some are bitter. Some are hot. We could keep going, but the point is that when you come up with an awesome, winning formulation, sometimes you just have to get over the taste of it and take it because you know it’s good for you and healthy for your body.

Unfortunately, kids don’t think that way. I’m sure you know mom.

Thankfully, Soothie Suckers is here to rescue us.

Not only does it taste good… I mean, my kids just consumed these things… they loved them, but they’re formulated using several different kinds of herbs per Soothie Sucker blend.

What makes them taste so great?

Well, they’re sweetened naturally using monk fruit, vegetable glycerin, and agave syrup! How simple! How perfect!

So now that you know how great they taste, let me tell you another thing that I love about them.

#2 – All Natural & Herbal

By now you know I love all things herbal! I mean… how much more natural can you get. Herbs are plants and they have plant chemicals in them that work in our bodies to make us healthier and heal us when we’re sick. They’re great! But, beyond being herbal, Soothie Sucker ingredients are all natural which is another huge plus.

There are plenty of “herbal products” on the market, but when you start looking into the ingredients, you’ll find that they really aren’t as natural as they are marketed to be. Thankfully, Soothie Suckers were not that way. They really are great. Let me tell you more about them.

Soothie Suckers come in 2 blends:

Immune Support (Orange)
Astragalus Root – One of the 50 fundamental herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine, astragalus is commonly used to strengthen the immune system and boost metabolism.
Mullein – A valued herb used by the Greek Dioscorides over 1800 years ago.  It is also said that Mullein is the plant that Ulysses took with him on his legendary voyage.
Thyme – Best known today as a culinary spice, Thyme was grown in monasteries during the Middle Ages and has been used for centuries to promote overall health and well being.  It was originally grown in the Mediterranean region and came to North America with the first colonists.

Nasal Support (Grape)
Echinacea – Used by Native Americans and quickly adopted by European settlers, echinacea has become one of the most widely used herbs and is best known for its immune enhancing ability.
Pleurisy Root – Known to be used in North America for more than a thousand years, pleurisy root is most popularly used during the winter season.

I already told you that they taste great and use natural ingredients to help flavor the Soothie Suckers, but they use natural colorings fruit and vegetable sources too!

Plus, they were formulated in partnership with the president of the American Herbalist Guild. CLICK HERE to read what he has to say about them!

#3 – Convenience Makes A Difference

As a busy mom of three energetic boys… soon to be four, I don’t have time to make everything myself. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m a total DIYer, but there are times when it’s better to buy things than make it myself.

Soothie Suckers are totally convenient in my opinion and something I would love to have on hand when I need them. I mean, think about it. When your kid comes down with a cold or the flu, how long is it going to take you to make something like this? A while… that’s how long. Your herbs have to infuse, then you have to get all the flavoring right so your sick kid will eat them, then you have to give them time to freeze. Sure, it can be done, but Soothie Suckers take the time and the work out of it which is a big plus for me and my busy life.

You get 8 pops in each Soothie Sucker box and you can freeze them into popsicles or you can let your kid suck the juice out of them (or drink it in a cup) instead. They’re only 15 calories each… not that it really matters for kids, but let’s just say mom decides to sneak into the box and eat one… two… maybe three! It may matter then. Plus, they’re already formulated using herbs for specific things which takes a lot of work off of you.

So Where Can You Get Your Own Soothie Suckers?

Soothie Suckers

If you’re on the west coast you can find Soothie Suckers in Whole Foods stores and in the New Seasons Market in Portland, OR. If you’re like me and you live… not west of the Rockies… than you can get them online at Amazon.com ($7.99) or at Drugstore.com ($8.99) which again… is very convenient.

But… just because you’re you and I’m me… Marietta has graciously offered to give 5 Growing Up Herbal readers a chance to win 2 boxes (1 box of each blend) of Soothie Suckers each!

How This Works:

All you have to do is enter into the Rafflecopter form below. There are several entries that are one-time entries, and if you really want some extra chances of winning, there are some daily entries you can get as well.

This giveaway will run for 3 days… starting today and ending on Saturday, January 12th at 12 AM.

Five winners will be drawn at random on January 12th. If you really want to win you’ll want to have as many entries as possible. Each entry is like putting your name in the hat again. The number of times depends upon how much the entries count for. The more times your name is in the hat, the better chance you have of winning. Make sense?

The winner’s names will be announced in the Rafflecopter form below on January 12th, in a blog post, on Facebook, and in an email newsletter. The winners will have 72 hours to contact me with their name and shipping address to claim their prizes.

Enjoy, and best of luck to you!!!

UPDATE: Since writing this post, I’ve been made aware of the fact that this product contains agave nectar which is not healthy for the body. After doing some research, I agree that this is not a sweetener to use as a sugar replacement on a daily basis; however, I’m not convinced that the small amount contained in this product is harmful. This product is backed by the president of the American Herbalist Guild as well as other natural health practitioners and herbalists. When it comes to replacing sugar there doesn’t seem to be a “best” option, especially one that can be used in freezer pops.

I love this idea, it would be a great way for my 3 girls to take what they need. I am however, not seeing the rafflecopter to enter.
Thank you and your sponsor for this opportunity.

Hummm… it’s showing up on my end. I’m not sure what’s up with that! I’ll check into it. Thanks for letting me know.
