I’ve known about Redmond Trading Company since I first got into healthy living around 10 years ago. Redmond is known for their healing bentonite clay, but did you know they started as a family-owned salt company? I’m all about supporting family businesses as my family makes our place in this world via my husband and his families business.
Redmond strives to elevate the human experience and to make the world a better place. They believe that nature has it right, and they’re committed to providing families with simple, clean, real products… just the way nature intended.
I highly recommend watching this video of their company. Not only do we want to support products we love because they work, but we want to support companies that are committed to us and committed to their values and vision.
The Healing Clay
Redmond’s bentonite clay was the first bentonite clay I ever bought and used, and I was sold! I didn’t have kids then so I used that clay as a facial mask because I was looking for a natural product that would help tone and soften my skin. Bentonite clay was what I came across. I used it, loved it, and made it a part of my facial care regimen on a biweekly basis.
As I later learned about herbs and other natural health avenues, I learned that there was so much more to bentonite clay so I tried it as a detox drink for a short while. Again, it was great and it will always be including in any detoxing that I do for myself or my family.
From there I’ve continued learning about this fabulous clay, and I’ve incorporated it into life in many ways… even more so now that I have kids. I’ll be sharing a post later this month about the different ways I use bentonite clay for my kids so stay tuned for that.
Not only does Redmond offer their bentonite clay in powdered form, but it also comes pre-hydrated at a perfect consistency and you can use if for things like a protective or healing diaper clay that’s safe for cloth diapers, bug bites, poison ivy, or any other itchy skin irritations, and they have a premade baby powder that uses their clay as well.
Redmond may be best known for it’s clay, but it’s also got a very popular line of salts. They not only offer salts to be used in your food that is unrefined sea salt, full of trace minerals that your body needs, but it comes in different varieties like regular salt and spiced blends such as garlic salt, onion salt, and a seasoning salt blend.
I’d used their regular salt many times before, but until recently I’d never used their seasoning blends. I can tell you though, my family has been loving our occasional homemade garlic bread with pastured butter and Real Salt garlic salt as well as our delicious coconut oil sweet potato fries with Real Salt seasoning salt. Yum!!
Another cool thing that I didn’t know Redmond offered were bath salts! They do, and I love them… not only for myself, but for my kids as well. I recently released my new digital guide Treating Fevers Naturally which focuses on how to manage your child’s fevers naturally. In that guide I have an Herbal Remedy Recipe Book that gives you recipes and step-by-step directions on herbal remedies you can make and use to help your little ones when they have a fever. Well, I already have a slew of ideas to incorporate into that when I update this book, like photos of each remedy, but I’ll also be adding in some new recipes and Redmond’s bath salts are making the cut!
When your child has a fever, most times they sweat a lot. This is a good thing because the sweating not only releases toxins from their body, but it cools them down as well. My newest recipe will be on how to use Redmond’s bath salts to help during a fever to keep your child from losing too many important minerals during all that sweating! I can’t wait to update!
Oh yeah, I’ll also be showing you how to use their bath salts to make a nice bath salt recipe to help calm and relax your kids before bed. This recipe can be used for babies, children, teenagers, and adults. Hey, even grandma and grandpa can use it! It’s for everyone. That will be coming later this month as well. Stay tuned.
Are You A “Mud Mouth”?
It’s hard to chose what my favorite Redmond product is, but I can honestly say now that I have kids and I’m a busy mama, one of my favorite things is Redmond’s new Earthpaste. It’s a bentonite clay toothpaste that’s all natural, full of awesomely healthy ingredients that aren’t going to harm your kid (even if they eat it), and it tastes delicious.
I wasn’t kidding about your kid eating it either. My 2 year old has learned to climb up on the toilet, open the cabinet where I keep the Earthpaste, find the yellow (lemon) one, unscrew the cap, and suck on it. SERIOUSLY! Half of our toothpaste has disappeared because this kid thinks it’s dessert! I’ve had to hide it from him. At least he’s getting a good cleanse while he’s at it. Good grief!
Anyway, I can’t sing the praises of this toothpaste enough. It’s great. I’ve tried making some different homemade toothpastes before with herbs and such in them to make them healthier, but I’ve not found anything so far that my kids will use consistently. I’ve only found two that I make sometimes, but in all reality… I’m busy, and I don’t always have time to keep up with these little things which makes buying Earthpaste PERFECT for us. Plus… if I make too large a batch of homemade toothpaste, it goes bad before we use it all. That never happens with Earthpaste, and my family has used many tubes of it.
